The Perfect Place To Celebrate Any Occasion
Welcome to Lucky Cheng’s, New York City's first, finest and longest running drag cabaret!
Founded on October 1st, 1993 in the East Village by lovebirds Hayne Suthon and Robert Jason, Lucky Cheng's was the first restaurant in the world to feature Asian drag-queen and transgender waitstaff, bartenders, and performers. When Prince Albert of Monaco dined “a-la-drag” with us in 1994, Lucky Cheng’s was catapulted into the international limelight. Named after a head busboy who later became co-partner, Lucky Cheng's continues to delight, entertain, and shock making it a favorite destination for celebrities and celebrants. The current owner is their daughter, Josephine Jason, heir upon Suthon’s passing in 2014.
Since the beginning, we have employed many from the LGBTQ community, iconic entertainers, & RuPaul’s Drag Race Stars. To name a few, Laverne Cox, Yuhua Hamasaki, Miss Understood, Gia Gunn, Bob The Drag Queen, Miz Cracker, and Vivacious have all graced our stage.
Everybody is welcome to our home. Do you have friends visiting from out of town? What about an upcoming wedding, birthday, or anniversary? Lucky Cheng’s is surely the place for you and your friends & family! We specialize in celebrating our wonderful guests with talent, food and an other worldly ambience. Our shows are always fun, risqué, interactive and a little wild. You will leave laughing, with full bellies, memories, and maybe even a few prizes. We can’t wait to meet and serve you!
